【摘要】:Thefreezingpointofanenginecoolantindicatesthecoolantfreezeprotection.Thefreezingpointofanenginecoolantmaybeusedtodeterminetheapproximateglycolcontent,providedtheglycoltypeisknown.FreezingpointasmeasuredbyTestMethodD1177orapprovedalternativemethodisarequirementinSpecificationsD3306andD6210.ThistestmethodprovidesresultsthatareequivalenttoTestMethodD1177andexpressesresultstothenearest0.1x00B0;CwithimprovedreproducibilityoverTestMethodD1177.ThistestmethoddeterminesthefreezingpointinashorterperiodoftimethanTestMethodD1177.ThistestmethodremovesmostoftheoperatortimeandjudgementrequiredbyTestMethodD1177.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthefreezingpointofanaqueousenginecoolantsolution.1.2Thistestmethodisdesignedtocoverethyleneglycolbasecoolantsuptoamaximumconcentrationof60%(v/v)inwater;however,theASTMinterlaboratorystudymentionedin12.2hasonlydemonstratedthetestmethodwithsampleshavingaconcentrationrangeof40to60%(v/v)water.Note18212;Wheresolutionsofspecificconcentrationsaretobetested,theyshallbepreparedfromrepresentativesamplesasdirectedinTestMethodD1176.Secondaryphasesseparatingondilutionneednotbeseparated.Note28212;Theproductsmayalsobemarketedinaready-to-useform(prediluted).1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesisareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
