【摘要】:Thisprocedurecanbeusedfor(butislimitedto)thefollowingapplications:(1)supportglassformulationdevelopmenttomakesurethatprocessingcriteriaaremet,(2)supportproduction(forexample,processingortroubleshooting),and(3)supportmodelvalidation.1.1Thesepracticescoverproceduresfordeterminingtheliquidustemperature(TL)ofnuclearwaste,mixednuclearwaste,simulatednuclearwaste,orhazardouswasteglassinthetemperaturerangefrom600x00B0;Cto1600x00B0;C.ThismethoddiffersfromPracticeC829inthatitemploysadditionalmethodstodetermineTL.TLisusefulinwasteglassplantoperation,glassformulation,andmelterdesigntodeterminetheminimumtemperaturethatmustbemaintainedinawasteglassmelttomakesurethatcrystallizationdoesnotoccurorisbelowaparticularconstraint,forexample,1volume%crystallinityorT1%.Asofnow,manyinstitutionsstudyingwasteandsimulatedwastevitrificationarenotinagreementregardingthisconstraint(1).1.2Threemethodsareincluded,differingin(1)thetypeofequipmentavailabletotheanalyst(thatis,typeoffurnaceandcharacterizationequipment),(2)thequantityofglassavailabletotheanalyst,(3)theprecisionandaccuracydesiredforthemeasurement,and(4)candidateglassproperties.Theglassproperties,forexample,glassvolatilityandestimatedTL,willdictatetherequiredmethodformakingthemostprecisemeasurement.ThethreedifferentapproachestomeasuringTLdescribedhereincludethefollowing:(A)GradientTemperatureFurnaceMethod(GT),(B)UniformTemperatureFurnaceMethod(UT),and(C)CrystalFractionExtrapolationMethod(CF).Thisprocedureisintendedtoprovidespecificworkprocesses,butmaybesupplementedbytestinstructionsasdeemedappropriatebytheprojectmanagerorprincipleinvestigator.Themethodsdefinedherearenotapplicabletoglassesthatformmultipleimmiscibleliquidphases.Immiscibilitymaybedetectedintheinitialexaminationofglassduringsamplepreparation(see9.3).However,immiscibilitymaynotbecomeapparentuntilaftertestingisunderway.1.3ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
